billie joe armstrong was literally such a cultural icon in 2004 across the world….like he permenantly cemented himself in the early 2000’s zeitgeist and i don’t think history will ever forget him…..like, he is to the early 2000’s as frank sinatra is to the 40’s, elvis is to the 50’s, the beatles are to the 60’s…..jimi hendrix was to the 70’s……..u get the point…….his image was so easily recognized that u could dress any guy in a black wig, thick eyeliner, a black shirt and red tie and anyone would know who you were imitating………..he brought a pinch of male feminity and counter-culture and Gayness into the mainstream……and if you’re into any modern rock/punk music, or like…..even other genres…… you most likely have green day and billie joe to thank, because they inspired countless bands and artists and they don’t get enough credit
